Big Purr Reopens! Surprise Guest Blogger: Bomi

Big Purr Reopens! Surprise Guest Blogger: Bomi

Heads up, Big Purr reopens this Saturday night, just one night after they were temporarily shut down. We reported yesterday about some strange activity happening outside the club, and when we reached out to the club's management team to inquire about it, we were happy to hear directly from a familiar face!

This following story was published with permission from Big Purr.:

Hey guys, it’s Bomi, your favorite Big Purr Client Registration Coordinator here and I got THE update for you.

Guys, Friday night the entire venue was closed to the public for a charity event. You know the club has these big events throughout the year. Lots of notable guests, celebs, and the philanthropic community enjoy being part of the Big Purr clientele so they show up and show out to raise a bunch of money, support the causes, you know, it’s all good stuff.

Friday the event was for one of our favorite causes, Paradise’s Big Cat Rescue & Reserve Fundraiser

The party was hosted in collaboration with the Paradise Wildlife Park at the venue, and also live streamed for those VIP guests who were unable to attend in person.

And, not to bury the lead, for the first time ever the event welcomed two VERY special guests:  Nim, a Siberian tiger and Shadow, a black jaguar.

Nim and Shadow, two of Paradise Park's happy residents!

These beautiful felines were brought in under strict supervision, and placed in a VIP area enclosure, where they were safe, calm, and lounging in all their beautiful glory. Party attendees could enter the hall and approach the enclosure unseen (two at a time), getting a more intimate look at the stars of the evening from a closer but safe distance. And yeah seeing them in person definitely added to the fundraiser's allure; the excitement and the donations were FLOWING. (seriously it was bonker$$)

Aside from those special guests, the event in the main venue was also going very well! You know how we do, decadence is in the air…

...people mingling, sipping drinks, enjoying the music.. Just as we’d hoped, our guests were really feeling themselves, and they were posting the event on social media so heavily that the online viewers’ donations never stopped rolling in.

But guys, the chill vibe did NOT last. One minute, we're all partying, the next, the night pivoted straight chaos.

I was at the lounge bar (yes, your girl was right in the middle of it as always), having a friendly debate with the chief content officer of Netflix (about the short ass lifespan of quality content on streaming platforms), when a group of  guests from behind me bolted, and I mean they were hauling ass, through the room! Pushing and shoving each other, sloshing their drinks everywhere, absolute terror on their faces!

Well, me being who I am and considering the type of things my job at Big Purr has gotten me used to (listen, I've seen some things), my Spidey senses were tingling and I went straight into action mode. Knowing full well that only one thing and one thing only could be causing such a response out of these normally dignified guests, I jumped up and ran towards the way they had just come from. YES, LIKE A STUPID PERSON, I went straight for  the hall where the big cats’ enclosure was. Like I’m some kinda cat whisperer... Like I'm a tiger tamer... Like, I'm the panther police... Look, don't ask me, I DON'T KNOW what I was thinking! But before I could get far, a strong pair of hands grabbed me and pulled my dumb ass off the corridor and into The Library Lounge and pushed until we were tucked in near the back wall.

I turned to find a group of twelve guests huddled together there. I knew the person who grabbed me, I was starstruck for just a second, I had every one of the man’s albums on my playlists and in my vinyl collection.

He put his finger to his lips.  “NO NOISE.”

How a person could actually yell a whisper is crazy, but if a six-time Grammy winner with a voice straight from the gods could do it, he sure did. He pointed at the doorway to the corridor and made claw marks with his hands. (This looks just like what you think it does. Like when someone says “RAWR!” and raises both their hands with fingers curled like claws.)  “They’re OUT…somebody—”

He didn’t even finish the sentence though, we were interrupted by sounds of lots of glass being shattered followed by several voices shrieking at once.

Let me tell you guys something right now. I was scared af. “WHERE are they, what happened— “

I was trying to ask questions, but before either of us could get into it, two of the Park wranglers whipped around the corner into the Library. One of them stayed near the entrance and the other took one look at our group and started sign language. Not actual sign language, but motioning what she wanted us to do: Everyone was to stay silent, drop all belongings, silence phones, remove shoes, she was about to guide us to safety…

So here's all us are, bare feet, bunched together, following the wrangler through the back corridors of Big Purr. Whenever we stopped suddenly I wanted to scream, I swear to God. She'd stop, stand for a minute, then either quickly turn us around back the way we came, (please God why) or move us into another room for a while (can we not?? can we get the fuck outta here please God I don't wanna die like this?!?).

I was trying to not have a mental breakdown, realizing she wore an ear piece, getting communication from someone else in the venue. We were actually very slowly making our way towards the exit, and how we moved depended on where the Nim and Shadow were in the building.  Instead of the cats being herded, we were being herded.

I think what kept all of us from losing our shit for real, was the calm of the park rangers, the handlers, and the club owner, who also joined our group near the end.

We learned the other guests had already made it safely outside by the time the owner joined up with us. He was accompanied by his Security Service detail and four park rangers, who told me they'd already been through the entire venue and seen to the safe exit of the other attendees. Long story short, after a lot of tip-toe-ing and hiding out, we got out!

And where the hell were the cats, you wanna know?  Well I asked the owner if he ever spotted them and Vice-President Min said he had indeed seen Nim and Shadow.

He said, and I quote: “We were watching them on the cameras after everyone was evacuated. They were just walking around. Smelling some stuff, pushing some things over. They’d sit for a few minutes, take in the scenery, then go off to another area. They weren’t in any particular hurry to do anything, just being curious. They both did eventually get into the food tables, haha" (he laughed) "so while they were distracted we took off, came to find every one not accounted for outside, which was just you guys.”

And that, friends, is the last of the info I have that I can share with you guys, We were out by then and the Security Service, the NKPD and the PWP wranglers took over the entire scene.

Shortly after, Nim and Shadow were safely wrangled without incident and taken back to the reserve. And??…everyone RETURNED to the club to keep the party going!  We're CRAZY??! Yeah, in all the excitement and terror, everyone was on a high and nobody even considered leaving. The fundraiser officially ended at 11pm but many guests stayed until sun rise and while it was literally wild,  it was truly our best fundraiser EVER.

No idea how we're gonna top this one, but challenge accepted! lol
